Double Indemnity is a film directed by Billy Wilder and was released in 1944.

In the intro of this film you see an Insurance representative for Pacific All-Risk named Walter Neff (played by Fred MacMurray) who is walking into an office and picks up a recorder to leave his confession for Barton Keyes(played by Edward G. Robinson), the person who proves if a claim is real or not.

Walter confessed that on his meeting at Mr. Dietrichson’s (played by Tom Powers) house to renew his auto insurance, he was let in by the maid to get informed that Mr. Dietrichson wasn’t home at the moment, but is greeted by his wife Phyllis Dietrichson (played by Barbara Stanwyck) who decides to come down to talk to Walter. She makes Walter wait in the living room, Walter already astounded by Phyllis’ beauty tends to be flirting with her when they begin to talk and she tends to flirt back. Walter begins talking to her about the insurance policy and Phyllis asks if she could have her husband get life insurance without him knowing about it, she claims that it’s because his job can be dangerous but Walter already figured that she wanted murder, but he wanted no part in it then he leaves to his apartment. After he got to his apartment he gets a visitor, it was Phyllis coming to persuade him to change his mind, she said that her husband was mean and evil and only cared about his daughter, Lola (played by Jean Heather). Phyllis succeeds she tricks him with love that both of them together would kill her husband together, Walter being an insurance sales man knows all the tricks and comes up with Mr. Dietrichson “dying by falling of a train” witch was his choice because the insurance company would pay double for the claim. So Walter tricks Mr. Dietrichson to sign the life insurance policy and then makes Phyllis make him take his business trip on the train. After the part where Walter and Phyllis Kill her husband and fled the crime scene leaving everything in place to make it seem like everything was an accident, the insurance company begins to inspect Keyes says it’s an accident but the big company boss says it was suicide, then they call Phyllis in for a meeting and tell her that her husband committed suicide and then she makes a scene and leaves the office then when it seems that everything is clear Keyes thinks that it was a setup that someone killed him that his wife and a unknown accomplice killed him. Walter got worried and told Phyllis not to talk to him for a while, afterward Lola talked to him and she had it figured out too that Phyllis had killed her father and that her boyfriend was seeing Phyllis behind her back too. Walter figures that she was playing him so he had to find a way out so he goes and confronts Phyllis about it I won’t say what they said but ill I’m telling you is, that Phyllis shoots Walter then Walter shoots her to death. So were back to how the movie started in Walter’s confession but this time Keyes hears what really happened and then Walter says he will flee across the border and doesn’t even make it to the elevator without bleeding out.

So my opinion of this movie is that it was boring at first then as it started talking about murder and betrayal I came to like the movie and found it to be thrilling and suspenseful at times. I would give the director a two thumbs up on this film and give it a 10 out of 10 because this has been so far my favorite black and white film and I’m guessing I’m not the only one that liked it seeing as it won 7 Oscars in its time.
