Ghauttham released in April 2009, is a must see movie.

Ghauttham is the second son of a big industrialist Parasuram. He is very attached to the family- an elder brother Raghu, who is helping the father int he business, his wife Raji ( Ghauttham's sister in law) who treats Ghauttham like his son, mother Parvathi, who treats Ghauttham as a favorite son, Gayathri, his only sister with a birth defect in her leg, Ajay, Raghu's mischievous son.

Father Parasuram keeps calling Ghattham, a good for nothing fellow,as many times Ghauttham seems to behave irresponsibly. When Ajay burts crackers inside the house on Diwali day, Ghauttham takes the blame to save the little boy and thus gets fired by dad once again. When Ajay and Gayathri use April 1st as an excuse to let the family go through mental agony by independently claiming that Raghu and Ghauttham are admitted in hostpital due to an accident, and when the gaff is understood Ghauttham takes the blame to save his sister, and again the father confirms his view of Ghauttham being an "useless fellow".

Always Ghauttham gets assigned to attend weddings or other ceremeonies representing the family, and in one such occasion meets the heroine Janaki. Dreaming of her from then on, Ghauttham takes the help of his sister in law Raji to confirm his love is bothways and the comical situations make the audience laugh whole heartedly. The episode contineuse when every one relaises that Janaki is from a poor family, and the whole family is trying to break the news to the father - an enjoyable sequence of events.

The close encounter of Janaki's father RamaRao and Ghauttham's father Parasuram, lends some tense moments and the intense dialogues are making one think carefully on values of life. With the love proposal beging rejected by the father, Ghauttham is obviously upset and around the same time worries about his brothers strange behaviour. And soon relaises that there is another lady in the life of his brother !!! Needless to say, the good mixture of comedy, drama, songs and situations leads to suspense and emotions from this point onwards.

The rest of the story is about how Ghauttham saves the honour of the family under very difficult circumstances and wins the trust and love of his father and also the hand of the girl he loved.

The debut director Rajiv Prasad has done a tremendous job of ensuring that there is not a single minute of drag in the whole film - before and after interval. The cinematographer Sudhakar has managed to capture the right frames in every second of the film. The full credit must be given the editor Ramesh who has managed to cut the action with laser precision that one cannot but enjoy the drama around the whole movie.

It is not often that a movie is made with all the songs unique and top of chart music. Gurukiran, the award winning Kannada music Director seems to have new found inspiration in this film and all songs starting with the opening number, a fusion of western, rap, indian classical, and folk , through the love song, a melodious number, family song which intertwines with the story, a peppy song, full of energy making the audience tap, and the montage song taking the audience through the suspense moments in a story telling way.

As felt by many Kannada movie lovers this movie is a trend setter for Kannada films in bringing a gripping family stories, that outlines the excellant relationship between various family members, the virtues of joint family, the affection between siblings, the role of every family member in ensuring the love and affection is maintained through difficult times, and the values of respecting every one for their life rather than money, status or richness.

The movie makes one feel why cant they be part of this lovely family, why cant they have a Ghauttham in their home or why cant they be a Ghauttham in real life.

The Visual special effects created by the producers own studio Synergyimages for the opening song "Yarivalu" is world class.

A MUST see for every Kannadiga - and others who want to appreciate a good slick film. With the dialgues written in simple Kannada even non-kannadigas can follow the movie easily.
