What could go wrong when a specialist plans to outsmart his own system and runaway rich and in love?

First things first, this is a very great movie. Although this movie is quite sinister, especially for the time that it was made, it is quite a good work of cinematography. This movie kept me wanting to know what would happen next through its duration. This movie kept me at “the edge of my seat” and I watched every second of this movie. The one thing though that did bother me, was the actual darkness of the picture, I guess I can really only blame the technology of the time, oh well.
The movie is about a guy named Walter. He is an insurance salesman. One day, he goes to the house of Mr. Dietrichson to try and get him to renew his automobile insurance. When Walter goes inside the house, he finds that Mr. Dietrichson isn’t there but his wife is. As soon as Walter laid eyes on Mrs. Dietrichson, he was in love with her. So in love, that he would not realize what he was doing through the entirety of the movie. Phyllis (Mrs. Dietrichson), asks Walter what he is at the house for and Walter tells her that he needs to speak to her husband about his automobile insurance. She eventually asks Walter about life insurance and immediately Walter knows that she wants her husband dead and just wants the money that comes from the insurance company when he dies “accidently”. At first, Walter does not give in but eventually does. Walter tries to talk Mr. Dietrichson a few days later about getting life insurance. He refuses to buy life insurance. Walter, being the scammer that he is, told Mr. Dietrichson to sign for the life insurance saying that it was automobile insurance papers. Mr. Dietrichson did not read the papers and just signed away. So now the trap was set and all Walter and Mrs. Dietrichson had to do was kill Mr. Dietrichson and make it look like an accident to get the money from the insurance company and then they could run off together. But they didn’t want to just get the normal sum of money, they wanted to get the double indemnity bonus from this insurance company. So they arranged for Mr. Dietrichson to “accidently” die in a manner that will give Walter and Mrs. Dietrichson double indemnity. Walter and Mrs. Dietrichson succeed in killing Mr. Dietrichson but were they able to make it seem like it was a total accident? That I cannot tell you for you have to watch the movie yourself and find out!
I would like to say that this movie is a must-see, especially for those who are huge fans of dramas. I would like to give this movie 8 stars out of 10. I never realized that I would like this movie so much, but it really struck my attention and I think it is a very enjoyable movie for most audiences. So go ahead, get this movie, pop some popcorn and get ready to have your eyes glued to the screen!
Neff and Phyllis murder Mr.Dietrichson in order to obtain money from a life insurance, but in the end they fail to accomplish their goal.

This film, "Double Indemnity" has a very conniving and savvy understanding. The majority of the characters are very shrewd and intelligant people who would go a far length in order to accomplish their mission. This is a great movie, but has some drawbacks to it. The film is black and white, and the ending is horrible.
The film starts out by introducing Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) as a insurance agent who is recording a confession about what he had commited. Long story short, Neff visits the Dietrichson's home and meets Phyllis Dietrichson, (Barbara Stanwyck) Mr.Dietrichson's (Tom Powers) wife. As Neff persuades Phyllis, he falls in love with her beauty and they plot against Mr. Dietrichson in order to obtain a large quantity of money from the life insurence. At first Neff denies Phyllis and leaves to his apartment to think about his predicament. Phyllis then appears at Neff's apartment, and being the sly woman she is, she convinces Neff to follow the plan of Mr. Dietrichson's demise. The murder or supposed "accident" begins when Neff sneeks into the Dietrichson's car which Phyllis and Mr. Dietrichson will drive on. On their way to the train station Phyllis sounds the car's horn and causes much noise to drown out Mr. Dietrichson's screams as Neff takes out the man by snapping his neck, to cause instant death. Then Neff aboards the train to finish the mission. Right before jumping off the train Neff has a short conversation with an older man about cigarettes. Once out of the train he meets up with Phyllis at the train tracks, they then leave Mr. Dietrichson on the tracks covering up the crime. As Phyllis drops off Neff close by his appartment to make sure no one suspects a thought of his whereabouts. I really thought the plan was perfect, but it was not. After the whole mumbo-jumbo, the insurance company began to speculate of the happening and if in reality the accident was true. Neff's parter and friend, Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson) had his doubts about the Dietrichson's case. For him it did'nt seem as believed; he believed in was a setup by more than one person. At that point Neff was scared to be found out and discovered by his friend Keyes. Then Neff had a conversation with Lola (Jean Heather) Mr. Dietrichson's daughter. Lola poured out a truth about Phyllis. She said that a time ago her mother was sickly and one day Lola's Mother's nurse left the window open and let through the cold wind in and sadly Lola's mother died days later. That nurse, was Phyllis. Adding to that, days before the death of Lola's mother, Phyllis was trying out black clothes planing what to wear for the future death of Lola's mother. This opened Neffs eyes about Phyllis and he dicided he was going to talk to Phyllis about his decision to abandon the mission, he wanted out of the whole mess he had got himself into. You would belive that Phyllis would comply but she would rather kill Neff than to do as he said. I was in suspense
at this point in the film. Unbelievably she shot him once but did not kill him. He ended up shooting her twice and she died. That scene was my favorite. I really don't want to spoil the ending but it really doesnt matter because the ending is the worst part of the movie it was a downfall in the movie for me. I think the director got bored of the movie and wanted to end it quickly damaging the movies rating. I will say this,Neff didnt succeed.
So my opinion of this movie is that it has a bad begining, great body, but bad ending. I would not recommend watching this movie, period. The one thing I enjoy about this film is that it's a film of betrayal and demise. I really wanted Neff and Phyllis to leave with the money and go on vacation. I give it a thumb down.
