Of Mice and Men
A movie never to been forgotten

Of Mice And Men (1992) PG-13
Staring Gary Sinise, John Malkovich, Sherilyn Fenn
Directed by Gary Sinise
Unfortunately there aren’t many movies made that show true friendship. But like Spongebob and Patrick, Of Mice And Men shows this bond.
George Milton (Gary Sinise) is like a caretaker to Lenny Small (John Malkovich) who is mentally challenged. After Lenny’s aunt dies, George and Lenny venture to the rural hillsides of Salinas, California in the midst of the Great Depression. The two go to find work on a farm and earn enough money to buy a house and complete the American dream. When they arrive at the farm they meet Curly, the owner’s son. Curly has a high ego and thinks he is better than everyone else. When Lenny and George meet Curly’s wife, things get worse.
The story line and theme was easy to grasp, and as the movie goes on you get hooked and can’t turn it off. The beginning of the movie leaves you with curiosity and questions. It soon exposes conflicts between people, as well as the strong bonds that hold us together. John Malkovich was ready and in character when playing Lenny Small. You would actually think he was mentally challenged in real life.
While I personally don’t read classic literature, I enjoyed this version of Of Mice And Men. This book has inspired me to read more of John Steinbeck’s books.
