Secret Window is a hybrid mystery horror movie. It has the elements and techniques of both genres. It has many clues and hints of what is to come coupled with intense scenes of suspense and wonder which makes a potpourri that smells absolutely amazing. This film will leave you in wonder since the beginning and the twist will throw you so hard, you can sue the director for giving you whiplash. The film stars Johnny Depp as the films protagonist, Mort Rainey, a horror novelist in a troubled marriage who finds out that his wife has been sleeping with another man, earning its PG-13 rating.
Johnny Depp shows his true skill as an actor in this film. He is absolutely amazing. It’s hard to think that the same man who plays Jack Sparrow, the lighthearted pirate from a Disney move, can be this believable in a serious role. You could really feel his emotions from his acting. What sets this movie apart from the typical thriller is the mystery. Instead of being a physical thing, it is more of a mental state that is the mystery. This adds a whole new level of mystery and suspense. The movie was a great success and I enjoyed every minute of it.
