The Flying Deuces
When Ollie tries to marry his true "love" and she rejects him, he joins the Frech Legion to forget her, and to cause chaos.
What do you get when you can’t get a girl and you try to forget about her in the army? This! This movie is such a great movie to start off. It is very funny and enjoyable by many, many audiences. In my opinion, this movie is one for the books.
So the movie starts off with Ollie and Stan, they are touring France and they are soon to be on their way home. The night that Ollie and Stan are supposed to be heading home, Ollie proposes to the girl that he loves but unfortunately, she rejects him because she is married. Ollie feels terrible and even though he didn’t get the girl, he still wanted to stay in France to commit suicide. So Stan agreed with Ollie to commit suicide with him. They make their way down to a river and tie themselves both up to a big stone block. After a while, the boys do not commit suicide because of Stan’s big mouth and not being able to shut it so they could finally jump into the river. When Stan does finally shut up, a soldier comes and tells them not to do it and to instead join the French Legion to help Ollie forget about Georgette. The one thing though, Ollie did not know that this soldier was Georgette’s husband. So the guys join the French Legion the next day and the first day they are there they already start to goof off and they do not follow orders so they are assigned to washing all the soldiers’ clothes. Even though Ollie and Stan were assigned to this task, they continue to goof off but doing so allowed Ollie to forget about Georgette, so they leave, unknowingly starting a fire with the clothes iron and setting all the soldiers’ clothes on fire! They try to escape but they fail and are sent to the army jail. When all hope seems gone, they were able to attempt to escape once again and start mayhem in the camp all over again. This includes making Georgette faint and destroying the leader of the camp’s office. After they are done there, they try their actual second time to escape. Do they escape? Or do they fail at doing so yet again? That I will not tell you and you must watch the movie to find out!
Now think of all of what I just mentioned above and add a little comedy here and there and you will see why this movie is so funny and enjoyable by many audiences. I also chose to not add many funny scenes that were in the movie to the review for the reason of not spoiling the movie. I chose to rate this movie 8 stars out of 10 because of it being so funny and having a great plot. This is slapstick at some of its best. I recommend buying a copy for yourself and watch this with all your family and friends because I’m almost sure that you will have a great time doing so.
