Walter Neff
An insurance salesman falls for his client's wife's trap of love.

The movie starts with an insurance salesman who falls in love with one of his client’s wife. The introduction starts with the insurance salesman, Walter Neff, recording himself confessing to his boss. I liked the cinematography in that scene; where he is alone, in a dark room, where it shows in his face what he has been through. And also the suspense in his voice, his sweaty forehead, and the close ups to his face. He narrates the story, which made it boring after watching him talk for so long. It would have been better if would have cut that shorter, although it was a creative way of narrating the story. This movie had its twist and turns which made it exciting to watch. This is the kind of movie that you are excited to find out what will happen next, with all its suspense scenes. Basically, Walter and Phyllis Dietrichson, the girl he fell in love with, were trying to make their love work. Well that’s what it seemed like at first, and it actually makes you believe it, until the ending. Walter really tries hard and even murdered his client, Phyllis’s husband, to make their love work. But since Phyllis had gotten accident insurance for her husband, Walter’s boss didn’t believe it was actually an accident. And it wasn’t an accident, since Walter had to pretend to be him in crutches and “accidently” fall of a train. Phyllis was the one who persuaded Walter into persuading her husband to get accident insurance, which he ended up doing. Walter thought since they were in love, they would plan to share the money they earned after her husband’s “accident”. But it wasn’t all so easy since that insurance company was investigating if it was really an accident. Then Walter had talked to Mr. Dietrichson’s daughter, which made him think twice about trusting Phyllis. At first he had to calm her down and make her believe Phyllis had nothing to do with her father’s death. He finally realized what Phyllis was really up to. And long story short, she tried to shoot him but she just shot him in the shoulder, and he shot her back twice and killed her. Then it all goes back to that dark room where he was confessing to his boss of his foolish trap. But it ended up that his boss was listening all along. And Walter planed to cross the border, but he didn’t even make it to the elevator. The ending really surprised me; it took its big turn. It was something you didn’t see coming or you just didn’t expect. This wasn’t one of those happily ever after movies. It showed the reality of different situations like love and money. In the movie, I noticed that the deaths weren’t cared for and it wasn’t a tragic thing. I didn’t really like the ending because it was cut short and it didn’t seem like a real ending. But overall, I really liked the movie and that’s why I rated it an 8 out of 10. And I am pretty sure you will enjoy it too.
What a man is willing to do for "love".

The things a man is willing to do for love. Man, guys can be crazy at times. This film, “Double Indemnity”, involves an insurance man named Walter Neff, and a beautiful young woman that goes by the name of Phyllis Dietrichson. In a visit to Mr. Dietrichson’s place, Walter is astonished by the beauty that lies in his wife (Phyllis). Although he is informed that Mr. Dietrichson is not present, he chooses not leave as quick. He stays as long as he could just to worship how beautiful Mrs. Dietrichson was, but receives the unexpected. As he sits in the waiting room, he is being persuaded by Phyllis to trick Mr. Dietrichson into signing his accident insurance money to Phyllis, and as what was expected, he did just that. At first, he did have some doubts, and was not convinced into taking such action, but he believed he was in love, and that’s when he fell into a trap. Phyllis creates an affair with Walter, but it was much more than what met the eye. They were planning in becoming rich one day, and that one day, they were hoping, would be very soon. As what was part of the plan, they agreed to become rich from the profits of Mrs. Dietrichson’s husband. They planned it all, after they tricked Mr. Dietrichson into signing the application for accident insurance, they planned to make that accident a murder. Walter, fooled by love, chose to work with Mrs. Dietrichson in order to kill her husband that way both can receive the money that originally was supposed to go to Mr. Dietrichson’s daughter, if he was ever to be in an accidental death. They proceeded with they’re devilish plans, and soon it started to look as if they were going to get away with it, but that’s when I was wrong. The insurance company chose to investigate this “accidental death” believing that it was not an accident, but a suicide situation. This was the biggest twist of all, thinking that they were going to suspect that it was a murder scene they chose to believe it was suicide. I laughed so hard, I couldn’t believe how clueless they were. I guess the couple planned it just right, but even so, that was not enough. The investigators got closer to the real situation, and every step they would take in getting closer to what really happened, there would be a step back in the relationship between Phyllis and Walter. Walter grew suspicious of who Phyllis really was. After talking to Mr. Dietrichson’s daughter, he learned that she could not be trusted. He grew to believe that at the end of this vicious crime, he would get nothing out of it. He was convinced that if they were to receive the money from the insurance company, she would not participate in sharing that money with him. As a result to this hypothesis of his, he started doubting her, and came to the solution, killing her. He knew that if he didn‘t do anything about it, he would end up paying the consequence. As a result, he visited Phyllis’s home around night, and was determined to letting her go, but not in the nicest way. It came to a gun battle in her home, with only 3 or 4 bullets shot, Phyllis was killed. Walter suffered a gun shot wound from that same night, and so he decide to confess. As if he knew he wasn’t going to live any longer. He recorded his confession in a tape recorder and soon figured out that his boss was hearing all along. In fact, the movie began with him confessing to the recorder, and ended with him dying on that same building where he finished his confession. He attempted to cross the border in order to get away from the problems that his confessions would cause, but he couldn’t even make it to the elevator. Such foolishness that he did for love. If you’re going to do something for love, at least make certain that it’s real. This trap that he walked into, was a trap that could only kill him, and you bet he suffered. I have to say that this film was one that shall be remembered for a long time. The vision was perfect, the acting was great, the directions were well presented, and the pot of the movie was as interesting as when the homo-sapiens first invented fire. That explains why I rated this movie a 9/10, and why I didn‘t chose to fall asleep. The only thing I found annoying though, was the fact that Walter would always say “baby”. I could have sworn that he said that word at least 10 times. Every time he would speak to his love (Phyllis) he would call her “baby”, and to me I just thought it was quite irritating. Just to hear that word made me think he was annoying and cheesy. Besides that, though, it was a must- see film. Hopefully you’ll be able to see through my eyes.
